Dean Neame Reappointed for Second Term

August 19, 2026 – Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, Tricia Serio, has reappointed Simon Neame to serve a second five-year term as Dean of University Libraries and University Press. The reappointment, effective September 1, is based on the completion of a comprehensive review process led by Vice Provost Rovy Branon and a multidisciplinary, tri-campus review committee as well as feedback from faculty, staff, students.

“I deeply appreciate the important role Dean Neame plays at the University of Washington and his commitment to the success of our students, faculty, other academic personnel, and staff,” said Provost Serio. 

During his five-year tenure, Dean Neame led the process to update the organization’s strategic plan, prioritizing the Libraries’ digital strategy, sustainable collection development and strengthening campus partnership and collaboration at the leadership level. 

“I am honored to accept a second five-year term as Dean of Libraries and Press at UW,” said Dean Neame. “I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the members of the Advisory Review Committee, chaired by Vice Provost Rovy Branon, and to all who participated in the review process through surveys, listening sessions, and conversations. Over the next term, I look forward to continuing to strengthen our digital strategy and to support the thoughtful and ethical adoption of emerging technologies with a focus on sustainability to ensure the Libraries are well-positioned to meet the evolving needs of our users and communities,” said Neame. 

In addition to his role with University Libraries, Dean Neame is an affiliate professor with the University’s Information School. In October 2025, he was elected as the next president of the Association of Research Libraries effective January 2027.
