The Position

Job Title: Archival Accessioning and Processing Assistant

Location/Department: Special Collections – Seattle

Rate: $21.30/hr

Hours: 12-15 Hours; M-F (schedule to be determined)

Positions available: 3-5

Duties

  •  Physically sort and evaluate archival materials; re-house items as necessary; label boxes for proper storage.
  • Create collection inventories for textual, photographic, and audio/visual materials
  • Manage and create collection records using ArchivesSpace, OCLC, Alma, and other database systems
  • Retrieve and re-shelve record storage boxes
  • Assist in tracking and inventorying archival supplies
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Available to work through academic year 2026 and Summer 2026
  • Able to follow and document complex processes in person and in writing
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel; aptitude for learning and using web-based applications
  • Professional attitude, strong attention to detail and ability to stay self-motivated and complete all tasks assigned in a timely manner
  • Able to quickly and legibly handwrite labels and other materials
  • Able to climb step stools/ladders
  • Able to lift 25 pounds regularly and push heavy, loaded carts
  • Manual dexterity for handling sometimes fragile and delicate items

Desired Qualifications

• Experience working with museum, library, or historical collections or equivalent
• MLIS candidate
