Duties
- Transport material between Suzzallo Library and Sand Point offsite shelving facility in a UW van.
- Create high-quality scans of articles to fill requests.
- Reshelve library materials at both Suzzallo and Allen Libraries and the Sand Point facility.
- Search lists, retrieve requested materials, and process items for pick-up from the Circulation hold shelves. Route requested books to other libraries.
- Retrieve archived material for delivery to Special Collections offices.
- Inventory collection to find cataloging and labeling errors.
- Assist with special projects and other Circulation duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Possess a driver’s license that is valid in Washington State and have a minimum of 2 years driving experience.
- Comfortable driving a 5-passenger van between campus and Magnuson Park
- Able to push full book trucks and lift up to 40 pounds.
Other Job Details
Based in Suzzallo Library with daily travel off-site to maintain and retrieve material located at Sand Point shelving facility at Magnuson Park. This unique position works with a small team to ensure user requests for material in off-site storage are filled quickly and accurately. Most work is behind the scenes, but with high impact on library users. It requires strong attention to detail and the ability to follow written and verbal directions with accuracy. You should be comfortable working independently as well as part of a small team.
No library experience is required. You will receive training on basic library tasks, article scanning, and use of the Ex Libris Alma library system.
This position requires the ability to work on your feet for extended periods of time. You will also need to load boxes into a van and push loaded book trucks. Some work takes place in temperature-controlled environments that average 57 degrees Fahrenheit.
