Under the general supervision of the Scholarly Publishing Outreach Librarian, the student chosen for this position will assist in various projects undertaken by the Open Scholarship and Data Services Teams.
Duties may include:
- Providing support for tools, services, and partnerships that support data-related research and education at UW, such as the data repository, digital object identifier (DOI) systems, DMPTool, and others.
- Contributing to outreach support for the University Libraries in areas related to scholarly communication and publishing (i.e. Research Data Management, Digital Repositories, Open Access, Copyright), including presentations, drop-in office hours, answering reference questions online and in-person, etc.
- Creating and/or updating online subject guides and other LibGuides on various scholarly communication topics.
- Assisting with development and presentation of educational and outreach programs, including workshops.
- Attending planning meetings for appropriate work teams and committees.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience or interest in issues of scholarly communication/research data management
- Ability to explain complex procedures in written and multimedia formats
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment
- Capacity to quickly learn and adapt to new and emerging technologies
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in creating and preparing multimedia (images, audio and/or video)
- Knowledge of or experience with web development or online instructional design
- Experience and/or demonstrated interest in marketing and outreach
