Kaijsa Calkins

Kaijsa CalkinsAssociate Dean of University Libraries, UW Tacoma

Kaijsa Calkins joined UW Libraries in April 2025 as associate dean for UW Tacoma. She was previously at the University of Wyoming Libraries for 19 years, most recently as assistant dean for Education & Research Services, which included Research & Instruction, Special Collections, Digital Collections, and the Digital Scholarship Center. She has also worked in the libraries at UW Bothell/Cascadia College, Pierce College, and Seattle Central College.   

In her research and practice of librarianship, Kaijsa has focused on embedded librarianship and the instruction and assessment of research and writing skills. She co-edited two books on embedded librarianship, Embedded Librarians: Moving Beyond the One-Shot and The Embedded Librarians’ Cookbook. In 2009 she was awarded the Mountain Plains Library Association’s Beginning Professional Award.

Kaijsa is a graduate of Shoreline Community College and holds a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences (American Studies and Culture, Literature & the Arts) from University of Washington Bothell and an M.L.I.S. from the iSchool at University of Washington Seattle.
