ACM DIGITAL LIBRARY
The Digital Library is a work in progress. New issues are posted as they are published. 95% of all ACM journals and proceedings from 1991 and forward, full-text, available in the Digital Library. The bibliographic data represents papers published in ACM journals since 1985. UW Restricted.

AGRICOLA
NAL (National Agricultural Library) Catalog. Agriculture, related subjects and allied disciplines, including earth sciences, forestry, and environmental sciences. Indexes journal articles along with many books, conference proceedings, research reports, and other types of documents from the collections of the National Agricultural Library.

AGRICULTURAL & ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE
This database includes the renowned AGRICOLA, TOXLINE, ESPM (Environmental Sciences and Pollution Management) and Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) databases and provides full-text titles from around the world, including scholarly journals, trade and industry journals, magazines, technical reports, conference proceedings, and government publications. This database includes specialized, editorially-curated A&I resources covering such topics as the effects of pollution on people and animals and environmental action and policy responses.  Coverage: 1960 – current. AIAA AEROSPACE RESEARCH CENTRAL (ARC)
AIAA Aerospace Research Central (ARC) provides access to the AIAA Journals, E-Books, Conference Papers and Standards. It also provides access to the journals published by the American Interplanetary Society, later known as the American Rocket Society (ARS), and the Institute of the Aeronautical Science later known as the Institute of the Aerospace Science (IAS). ARS and IAS merged in 1963 to form AIAA. Full-text coverage begins with 1996 and citation information from 1963 to current. UW Restricted.

AIR UNIVERSITY LIBRARY INDEX TO MILITARY PERIODICALS
Index to articles, news items, and editorials from approximately 80 English language military and aeronautical periodicals.The Index contains citations since 1988 and is updated continuously.

ASCE CIVIL ENGINEERING DATABASE
This database is designed to provide easy bibliographic access to all ASCE publications. The database covers ASCE documents published since January 1970. It provides bibliographic access to all the journals, conference proceedings, books, standards, manuals, magazines, and newsletters.

ASCE CIVIL ENGINEERING RESEARCH LIBRARY
A comprehensive online tool for locating articles of interest across all disciplines of civil engineering. The Research Library includes ASCE conference proceedings beginning in 1998, and all ASCE journal and periodical volumes published since 1995. UW Restricted.

ASM HANDBOOKS ONLINE
All twenty ASM Handbook volumes plus two ASM Desk Editions published by ASM International. Includes metals and engineered materials.UW Restricted.

ASME DIGITAL COLLECTION
Journals and conference proceedings from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). UW Restricted.

ASTM STANDARDS AND ENGINEERING DIGITAL LIBRARY

The ASTM Standards and Engineering Digital Library is a vast collection of industry-leading standards and technical engineering information. The Library covers a broad range of engineering disciplines, including aerospace, biomedical, chemical, civil, environmental, geological, health and safety, industrial, materials science, mechanical, nuclear, petroleum, soil science, and solar engineering. CASSI
The CAS Source Index (CASSI) Search Tool is an online resource intended to support researchers and librarians who need accurate bibliographic information. Use this free tool to quickly identify or confirm journal titles and abbreviations for publications indexed by CAS since 1907, including serial and non-serial scientific and technical publications.

CHEMnetBASE
Provides electronic access to several major Chapman & Hall/CRC Press chemical reference books, including the CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics.

COMPENDEX
Available on Engineering Village 2 (listed below), Compendex provides comprehensive and interdisciplinary coverage of the world’s literature in every field of engineering. Indexes over 4500 journals, as well as conferences, government reports, and books. Covers 1884 to the present. Updated weekly. It is now possible to combine the Compendex and Inspec (see listing below) databases in one search. Choose the combined databases from the “Select Database” menu. UW Restricted.

CURRENT INDEX TO STATISTICS
CIS Extended Database. Indexes the literature of pure and applied statistics. Covers the 1940s to the present. UW Restricted.

DOE PAGES
The Department of Energy Public Access Gateway for Energy and Science is the DOE discovery tool, developed by the DOE Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI), that makes peer-reviewed scholarly scientific publications resulting from DOE research funding publicly accessible. DOE PAGES offers free public access to the best available full-text version of DOE-funded scholarly publications – either the peer-reviewed, accepted manuscript or the published scientific journal article – after an administrative interval of 12 months. EARTH, ATMOSPHERIC & AQUATIC SCIENCE COLLECTION
The Earth, Atmospheric & Aquatic Science Database includes the renowned Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Abstracts (ASFA), Oceanic Abstracts, and Meteorological & Geoastrophysical Abstracts (MGA). It provides full-text titles from around the world, including scholarly journals, trade and industry journals, magazines, technical reports, conference proceedings, and government publications. HISTORY OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND MEDICINE
Describes journal articles, conference proceedings, books, book reviews, and dissertations in the history of science, technology, medicine, and allied historical fields; covers 1975 to the present. UW Restricted.

IEEE Xplore – IEEE/IEE ELECTRONIC LIBRARY ONLINE
The IEEE/IEE Electronic Library Online (IEL) through the IEEE Xplore interface puts publications from the IEEE and the IEE at your fingertips. IEL Online helps you locate journal articles, conference papers, and technical standards from 1988 to the present, and select content back to 1950. More than 12,000 publications containing over 450,000 articles are just a few clicks away. Quickly find background, challenge hypotheses, validate assumptions, and generate ideas as you develop new knowledge about technology. Note: Please LOG OUT when you are done. UW Restricted.

INIS DATABASE
With over 3.3 million bibliographic records, the INIS (International Nuclear Information System) collection offers online access to a unique set of non conventional literature (NCL) of over 280,000 full-text documents, such as scientific and technical reports, conference proceedings, patents and theses, not available through commercial channels. In order to improve your search results you may want to consult the INIS Multilingual Thesaurus. The database is a product of the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency).

INSPEC
Available on EngineeringVillage2, Inspec covers Physics, electrical engineering and electronics, and computer science and engineering. It also covers many areas of the physical and applied sciences, as well as information technology and control engineering. Indexes and abstracts articles from over 3000 journals, as well as technical reports, conference proceedings and other publications. 1896 to the present. Updated weekly. UW Restricted.

INSPEC ANALYTICS

In 2019, The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) released Inspec Analytics, a research intelligence tool to help research professionals explore global trends in physics, engineering and technology research. Explore the interconnected data within Inspec to uncover patterns and trends in engineering, computing & physics research to understand your place in a global landscape. With these precision research analytics, you can set the direction for your research outputs and monitor their impact.

Inspec Analytics can also be accessed when using the Inspec database within EngineeringVillage. Choose “Search” then “Inspec Analytics” from the drop down menu. UW Restricted. NOTE: You must connect using HuskyOnNet VPN configured to “All Internet Traffic” in order to access Inspec Analytics.

Knovel provides online access to engineering and science reference handbooks, databases, and conference proceedings and data. UW Restricted.

MAGNESIUM ALLOY DATABASE
Knovel’s Magnesium Alloy Database is a comprehensive compilation of typical and representative mechanical and physical properties for over 50 well-known wrought and cast magnesium alloys in a number of tempers and product forms. 22 interactive tables and 72 interactive graphs offer values in both metric and US units. Included are high and low temperature data, in addition to creep, stress rupture and fatigue properties. UW Restricted.

MATERIALS PROJECT
The Materials Project was created to accelerate materials discovery through advanced scientific computing and innovative design tools. By computing properties of all known materials, the e-science site aims to remove guesswork from materials design in a variety of applications.

The Materials Project wants to promote materials discovery through advanced scientific computing and innovative design tools, which include: Materials Explorer, Phase Diagram App, Lithium Battery Explorer, Reaction (Enthalpy) Calculator, Crystal Toolkit, Structure Predictor, Band Structure and Density of State App. (Register for free, full access to all the tools.)

MATHSCINET
Mathematics literature and related subject areas. Includes Mathematical Reviews, 1940 to the present. UW Restricted.

MATWEB: The Online Materials Information Resource
Free searchable database of material properties. Use MatWeb to identify engineering materials based on property requirements. Comprehensive coverage of thermoplastic and thermoset polymers, aluminum, magnesium, steel, titanium and zinc alloys, plus a growing list of ceramics and other metals.

MCEER PUBLICATIONS CATALOG
MCEER (formerly the Multidisciplinary and the National Center for Earthquake Engineering Research) Publications Catalog contains most MCEER/NCEER publications. Research focuses on earthquakes, earthquake engineering, natural hazard mitigation, and related topics. Additional features include records for various publication types, such as books, journal articles, conference papers, technical reports, CDs, slides, and videos.

Headquartered at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, MCEER was originally established by the National Science Foundation in 1986, as the first National Center for Earthquake Engineering Research (NCEER). In 1998, it became known as the Multidisciplinary Center for Earthquake Engineering Research (MCEER), from which the current name, MCEER, evolved.

NASA TECHNICAL REPORTS SERVER (NTRS)
This database displays citation information from NASA’s Scientific and Technical Information (STI) Program. Examples of NASA’s STI include research reports, journal articles, conference and meeting papers, technical videos, mission-related operational documents, and preliminary data. These are not full-text documents, although links to online full-text are provided when available.

NTIS & PUBLIC ACCESS NTRL

The Public Access NTRL (National Technical Reports Library) is open to all users for search and retrieval of federally funded science and technology research.  However, in order to display a full text document you need to register. Registration is free but Terms and Conditions of use need to be accepted and signed. Covers 1964 to the present.

OPTICAL AND FILTER GLASS DATABASE
The Knovel Optical and Filter Glass Database is a comprehensive resource of optical and filter glass property data compiled from 16 optical and filter glass manufacturers worldwide. The database includes extensive optical, mechanical, and chemical property data for more than 1700 commercially available optical and filter glasses.UW Restricted.

O’REILLY ACADEMIC
Full-text technical reference books on topics such as networking, Java, Linux/Unix, Perl, .NET, desktop productivity, web development and more from O’Reilly and other publishers of IT books. UW Restricted.

OSTI.GOV
OSTI (Department of Energy, Office of Scientific & Technical Information) maintains a database of all the full-text documents and citations previously found in Information Bridge and Energy Citations Database. OSTI.gov contains over sixty-five years of energy-related citations created and/or collected by OSTI. There are over 2.5 million citations, including citations to 1.4 million journal articles, 364,000 of which have digital object identifiers (DOIs) linking to full-text articles on publishers’ websites. OSTI.gov also has over 313,000 full-text DOE sponsored STI reports; most of these are post-1991, but close to 85,000 of the reports were published prior to 1990.

OSTI.gov includes technical reports, bibliographic citations, journal articles, conference papers, books, multimedia, and data information sponsored by DOE through a grant, contract, cooperative agreement, or similar type of funding mechanism from the 1940s to today. This collection continues to grow as new scientific and technical information resulting from DOE research becomes available.

PATENT DATABASES – USPTO WEB PATENT FULL-TEXT AND FULL-PAGE IMAGE DATABASES
Access to the US Issued Patent (PatFT) Database, a database of the full text content of US patents issued from January 1, 1976 to the most recent weekly issue date. Full-page images are also available from 1790 to the present. Follow the instructions about accessing the images. The full-text is only searchable back to 1976. This means that searching for patents via keyword will only retrieve patents issued since the 1970s. You can search all the way back to 1790 using the patent classification system or patent numbers. The Published Applications (AppFT) Database, a full-text and full-page image database of US patent applications published since March 15, 2001, is also available. PGM DATABASE (Platinum Group Metals)
A collection of published data and internal Johnson Matthey data defining the physical properties and characteristics of platinum group metals and their alloys.

PREPRINTS CITATION INDEX
Search on the Web of Science platform for preprints of key research articles ahead of the formal publication in a journal from a range of international selected and evaluated preprint repositories in the sciences, social sciences and arts & humanities.

ProQuest DISSERTATIONS AND THESES GLOBAL
A comprehensive index to dissertations and theses from all fields of study. The full text version includes 2.4 million dissertation and theses citations from 1861 to present day with more than 1 million full text dissertations that are available to download in PDF format. Full text dissertations include most from 1997 with a strong retrospective collection for older works. Each year more than 60,000 new full text dissertations and theses are added to the database. PUBMED

Covers more than 3,900 journals in biomedicine, including citations published in Index medicus, International nursing index, and Index to dental literature, from 1966 to the present. UW Restricted.

SAE MOBILUS
SAE mobilus is a vast repository of authoritative technical content including SAE standards and technical papers. The Standards portion of SAE mobilus references thousands of SAE standards. SAE publishes many new, revised, and reaffirmed standards each year in three categories: Ground Vehicle Standards (J-Reports); Aerospace Standards; and Aerospace Material Specifications (AMS). The Technical papers portion of SAE mobilus references thousands of SAE Technical Papers covering the latest advances and research in all areas of mobility engineering including ground vehicle, aerospace, off-highway, and manufacturing technology. SCIENCE CITATION INDEX (SCI)
Included in Web of Science Core Collection, includes worldwide research literature in the sciences. Used primarily for cited author (determining who has cited an author’s previous works) & cited reference (determine who has cited a previous work and where) searching. Covers 3300 major journals across 100 scientific disciplines, indexing every article & significant item (including letters, notes, editorials). Covers 1975 to the present. UW Restricted.

SCIFINDER SCHOLAR- WEB VERSION
There are now 2 different ways to access SciFinder scholar-the traditional Client and Web.The Web version is new and does not yet have all of the newer features of the client. It does have the advantages of not having to download a client or worry about Mac and PC issues. It has one feature which was not available on the client-the ‘keep me posted’ or update feature. Both Client and Web versions are available to all valid users. Registered users click to begin session. UW Restricted.

SPIE DIGITAL LIBRARY
The SPIE Digital Library encompasses the content of the journals (Optical Engineering, Journal of Electronic Imaging, Journal of Biomedical Optics, Journal of Microlithography, Microfabrication and Microsystems) and proceedings of the International Society for Optical Engineering. The content is primarly in the areas of optics, photonics, optoelectronics and imaging and is relevant to researchers in biomedicine, defense and security, nanotechnology, computing, astronomy, environmental monitoring, sensors, communications, and many other fields. Curated data and advanced functionalities to support research in materials science, physics, chemistry, engineering, and other related fields.

THOMASNET
Freely search information about industrial products and services in the following categories:

Downloadable 2D and 3D CAD models for mechanical parts, plant components, and building products for easy insertion into drawings; product catalogs searchable by specification; parts catalogs for class and competitive projects.

ThomasNet also offers an Industrial Market Trends (IMT) blog and newsletter that offers insight to industry’s hot topics, latest developments, best practices, market trends and opinions of our readers giving students a look at the real-world; an active forum community; and product news.

TRAIL
The Technical Report Archive & Image Library (TRAIL) is an initiative led by the University of Arizona in collaboration with CRL and other interested agencies to identify, digitize, archive, and provide access to federal technical reports issued prior to 1975. More information.

Transportation Research Board’s Research in Progress (RiP) Database
The RiP database contains over 8400 current or recently completed transportation research projects. Most of the RiP records are projects funded by Federal and State Departments of Transportation. University transportation research is also included. The RiP Database now serves as a clearinghouse of University Transportation Centers ongoing research.

TRID ONLINE
TRID is an integrated database that combines the records from TRB’s Transportation Research Information Services (TRIS) Database and the OECD’s Joint Transport Research Centre’s International Transport Research Documentation (ITRD) Database. TRID provides access to over 900,000 records of transportation research worldwide.

UNITED STATES TRADEMARK ELECTRONIC SEARCH SYSTEM (TESS)
The U.S. Patent & Trademark Office TESS database contains more than 2.9 million pending, registered and dead federal trademarks. Click on option number 2 “Search marks” or visit the USPTO’s Trademark Electronic Business Center (EBC). Updates scheduled daily on Tuesdays through Saturdays. WEB OF SCIENCE CITATION DATABASES
Includes Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-EXPANDED), 1975-present; Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), 1975-present; and Arts & Humanities Citation Index (A&HCI), 1975-present. Provides access to the Science citation index expanded, Social sciences citation index and Arts & humanities citation index; database coverage: 1975-present. UW Restricted.
