EXHIBIT: Sentinels of the Sea: Pacific Northwest Lighthouses

Washington State's lighthouses, from the historic Cape Disappointment (first lit in 1856) to the iconic Point No Point and Mukilteo, are vital historical markers guiding ships through rugged coasts, foggy channels like the Puget Sound entrance, and treacherous river mouths. Several lighthouses have been automated and are still active today. Stories of these beacons of light can be found throughout Special Collections. Stop by and check out Sentinels of the Sea, featuring selections from Special Collections offering a glimpse into the Pacific Northwest's rich maritime history.
