Libraries ventilation and COVID safety best practices

Airflow in Libraries spaces should meet or exceed a Covid-safe threshold of 4 air changes per hour based on a 2019 city-mandated building survey, resulting maintenance and secondary evaluations in spring 2021 in open study areas. All systems have  been inspected to ensure HVAC is working as designed. Per UW Facilities:

·       Building ventilation systems are safe and ready for normal occupancy

·       MERV-13 filters meeting CDC & WA L&I standards in place and regularly checked

·       Extra checks are being performed during ramp up to Fall

·       Increased operating hours for mechanical systems

·       Increased outside air ventilation rates where possible

·       spot checking air flow in classrooms, including Libraries classrooms
