Teaching Support

The Libraries helps students deepen their learning around research, inquiry, and the critical use of information. Through our teaching services, we empower UW instructors to incorporate library resources and critical thinking skills strategically into their courses and in alignment with the core elements of effective teaching.

Preparing Your Course Materials
The Libraries helps instructors build courses around free and licensed materials through access to our extensive collections and affordability focused services.
Course Materials & Course Reserves
Course Reserves are physical and digital materials that have been set aside for a course. This may include materials such as physical textbooks, ebooks, and streaming media. Items on course reserve typically have shortened loan periods and, for physical materials, are typically placed near a service desk for easier access.
Open Education and Open Pedagogy
Open Educational Resources (OER) are course materials that are free for students and that come with permissions allowing for remixing, revising and adapting. Open Pedagogy refers to practices that engage students in the creation of information, rather than simply the consumption of it.
Suggest a Purchase
We welcome suggestions for materials that support teaching, study, and research.
