Duties
- Physically sort and evaluate archival materials, primarily photographs and other visual materials such as illustrations; re-house items as necessary; label boxes for proper storage.
- Create collection inventories.
- Manage and create collection records using ArchivesSpace and other database systems.
- Retrieve and re-shelve record storage boxes.
- Assist in tracking and inventorying archival supplies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Able to follow and document complex processes in person and in writing.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel; aptitude for learning and using web-based applications.
- Professional attitude, strong attention to detail and ability to stay self-motivated and complete all tasks assigned in a timely manner.
- Able to quickly and legibly handwrite labels and other materials.
- Able to climb step stools/ladders.
- Able to lift 25 pounds when required and push heavy, loaded carts.
- Able to wear either cotton or nitrile gloves on a regular basis.
- Manual dexterity for handling sometimes fragile and delicate items.
Desired Qualifications
- Available to work through academic year 2025.
- Experience working with museum, library, or historical collections or equivalent.
- Strong interest in archive or special collections work.
- MLIS or Museology candidate.
