Duties
- Provides information and research help assistance to library users in person and online.
- Assists library users with printing and scanning equipment.
- Checks out library material and performs basic library circulation tasks.
- Contributes to other tasks and projects as assigned (examples may include: assisting with collection development projects, online research guides, or exhibits).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Strong public service orientation and customer service ethic.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to juggle projects, set priorities, and work independently with minimal supervision.
Desired Qualifications
- Enrollment in the MLIS program at the UW Information School (as of September 2025)
- Interest in reference services and academic libraries.
- Experience and/or demonstrated interest in working with a diverse user population.
- Familiarity and comfort with searching electronic and print reference sources, and ability to perform advanced web searching.
- Experience in providing direct public service in a library setting, especially at reference, information, or circulation service points.

Located at the heart of the Seattle campus, Suzzallo and Allen Libraries are the largest of the UW Libraries. Suzzallo and Allen Libraries serve a variety of users, including UW students, staff, and faculty; community users; and researchers from around the world.
This position combines in person work at the Information Desks in Suzzallo and Allen, as well as staffing our online chat reference service. This position offers graduate students an opportunity to supplement their education with practical expertise and skills that are transferable to future opportunities.
