Tateuchi East Asia Library Summer Closure

March 23, 2022-- The Tateuchi East Asia Library (TEAL) is currently preparing for a renovation project and will be closed to the public during summer quarter starting June 11, 2022. The Library plans to reopen at the beginning of fall quarter, 2022 (date TBC).

During this time, all material in the TEAL reading-room will be inaccessible. This material includes the reference collection, the circulating collection in the call number range A-BL2765, and current periodicals. Prior to June 11th, users can check-out materials for use over the summer, including items from the reference and atlas collections, which cannot usually be checked out.

The following dates and activities are important to be aware of as they will impact access to materials prior to closure:

  • Starting March 21: current issues of periodicals will be sent for binding and will be unavailable; users can access periodicals through online resources and Interlibrary Loan.
  • April 14th: deadline for faculty to request TEAL reference books for spring quarter
  • June 10th: deadline for users to check out needed items from the TEAL reading-room for use during summer closure

During TEAL’s closure, material not shelved in the reading room will be available for request and pick- up at other campus libraries. Faculty can also request delivery via campus mail to their offices. TEAL will not offer summer or fall course reserves, nor will there be any new book displays onsite or online. TEAL reference and consultation services will be online only.

For questions, please contact your TEAL subject librarians,  or email: uwlib-ealcirc@uw.edu.
