DC Element: Format
The physical characteristics or digital manifestation of the resource. Dublin Core intended the Format field to be used to determine the kind of software, hardware or other equipment needed to view the resource. Information about size and duration could also be included.
The UW Libraries projects have so far used this field for information about the digital conversion process, date scanned, and the digital image format.

Recommended format:
- Just be consistent–use the same terms in the same form for the same format.
Recommended controlled vocabulary:
- Internet Media Types (MIME) is the list recommended by the Dublin Core for computer media formats.
