The Position

Job Title: Interlibrary Loan Student Assistant
Location/Department: Seattle
Rate: $20.76
Hours: 10-15 hours per week

Duties

  • Sort incoming and outgoing Summit items for processing.
  • Update Summit items in online catalog.
  • Process borrowed books for UW patrons in the online catalog and management system.
  • Pulling books from the Suzzallo and Health Science Library shelves for scanning.
  • Scanning Materials for electronic delivery.
  • Searching online databases and online catalog.
  • Data entry and cleanup projects.
  • Other basic office tasks as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to lift 20lbs and push carts loaded up to 50lbs of books or mailing packages.
  • Ability to scan graphic imagery, including but not limited to surgical and dental photos, human anatomy, etc.
  • Commitment to an inclusive working environment and a culture of respect

Desired Qualifications

  • Must be punctual and flexible in a changing work environment.
  • Experience locating articles or online content using a library catalog, web search or database.
  • Experience packaging and sending items from US Postal service or Courier services (UPS, FedEx, etc.)
  • This position requires a self-motivated, detailed-oriented person with the ability to follow written and verbal directions with accuracy.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google suite.
  • Willing and available to work for at least two quarters.
  • Reading knowledge of a foreign language, especially Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, or Hebrew.

Other Job Details

  •  Must be available for at least one of the summer academic terms
