ResearchWorks
ResearchWorks is the University of Washington’s institutional repository; it disseminates text-based scholarly work produced by members of the UW community. Get started:
- Check the list of existing ResearchWorks Communities to determine whether any of them are appropriate for your work.
- Ask Us! to be assigned permissions to self-deposit, or fill out a mediated deposit form.
Faculty and staff researchers may deposit their works in ResearchWorks provided they are compliant with applicable intellectual property and privacy laws.
Student work may be deposited in ResearchWorks if either:
- It has been vetted by an appropriate faculty member or subject specialist, OR
- It is part of an existing deposit workflow for culminating projects, such as the UW Electronic Thesis and Dissertation program.

Dryad
Dryad is a nonprofit data repository offering UW researchers a secure location for research data storage at no additional cost to them. Dryad provides automatic DOIs and allows deposits up to 300GB.
Manifold
Share your research openly or build a critical edition or digital book with your class using Manifold, a digital book publishing software. Manifold can also be used to gather feedback on drafts of a text through annotations or can allow you to share conference proceedings with broad audiences.
Pressbooks
Pressbooks is a free, easy, and professional self-publishing platform to create an open textbook or other open online course resource.
Omeka
Collect, describe, and share research images and artifacts in this easy-to-use platform; through the Libraries Reclaim Hosting service you can use Omkea like your very own virtual museum!
WordPress
WordPress makes it easy to organize a wide range of content including oral histories, video and more. Through the Libraries Reclaim Hosting service you can create your own website with easy-to-use templates tailored to research and teaching applications.
Journal Hosting Service – Online Journal Service (OJS)
The University of Washington Libraries Journal Hosting Service is a full-service publishing option for faculty interested in starting a new journal or relocating an existing title. We can provide server space plus support and training for the use of this publishing platform.
