Assigned Carrels and Study Rooms

Suzzallo Library Study Carrels
These carrels are located on the fourth floor of Suzzallo Library in a quiet, publicly-accessible space. Carrel assignments are available to current University of Washington students, staff, and faculty.
Carrels are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Eligible users may renew their career assignment at the end of the academic year.
Suzzallo Library materials can be checked out to assigned carrels and may be left in the carrel until their due date.

Scholar Study Room
This secured, shared space, located in the northeast corner of the second floor in the Allen Library, offers assigned bookshelves and storage lockers.
Scholar Study Room assignments are available to PhD Candidates who have completed their general exams, current Visiting Scholars, and current or retired UW Faculty.
Students wishing to use the room must be registered for the current quarter or officially on leave with the Graduate School.

Faculty Study Rooms
These study rooms are individually assigned rooms in the Suzzallo Library. Faculty study room assignments are available to current University of Washington faculty who are actively working on research. Priority is given to tenured and tenure-track faculty.
Study rooms are assigned on an annual basis. Faculty who plan to be on leave for one quarter or more and will not be using their study room may not keep the space during this time. However, reassignment will be made on a priority basis upon their return if their research need continues.
