In January 2017, the University of Washington Libraries and Capital Planning & Development engaged the consultant team of Dugdale Strategy and Mahlum Architects to develop a strategic space plan that articulates planning and identifies opportunities for the physical development of the University of Washington Libraries on the Seattle Campus for the next ten to fifteen years. The planning included broad consultation, including the Faculty Council on University Libraries (FCUL).
The Strategic Space Plan was presented to the FCUL in January 2021 to share a long-term vision and framework for future changes to the physical development of the University of Washington Libraries on the Seattle Campus. The plan provides guidance for space decisions and investments.
