Reproduction Services

Due to a staffing shortage, PDF requests are limited to 100 pages or less. For more information contact [email protected]

Special Collections does provide digital reproduction services for a fee, but this service is subject to size, physical condition of the item, and copyright laws.

Reproduction, use, and publication is governed by law and subject to permission. All reproductions, regardless of format, are provided for the researcher’s individual use. We reserve the right to prohibit you from making duplicate copies.

Some things to consider before placing your order:

  • Photography is allowed in the Reading Room.
  • Material can be viewed remotely in the Virtual Reading Room. Provided there are no restrictions on the material, users can take screenshots of materials for personal reference.
  • Researchers may not take pictures, make copies, or take screenshots of photographs in the Reading Room or Virtual Reading Room.
  • Orders may take up to 10 weeks to complete.
  • Microform duplication services are available through our Microforms and Newspapers Department.

How to request copies

  • Identify the specific materials you wish to have copied, including order number, negative number or identification number. If an item does not have a number, indicate the collection name, call number or description.
    • Photos and Documents: We strongly recommend you view the materials first to identify specific items for reproductions. This can be done either in-person or remotely using the Virtual Reading Room. To view materials, make an account in the Special Collections Request system
  • Review Reproduction Price List. Additional fees are charged for special handling and for processing if you did not flag the items yourself (either at an in person research appointment or remotely using the Virtual Reading Room). View price list (pdf).
  • Complete form. Phone orders are not accepted. You will need to make an account in the  Special Collections Request system and fill out a reproductions services request.
  • Payment. You will be invoiced for your order. Orders will be delivered after payment is received.
  • Delivery. Delivery is electronic. Your delivery will be emailed to you, or you will receive a notice that the order is ready to be downloaded via file transfer protocol.
  • Permission for use. Requesting a reproduction is NOT a permission for use request. If you intend to use the image in a publication or other project, please visit our permission for use page for instructions on how to request permission
