Elsevier Negotiations To Begin For 2023 Access

April 4, 2022

The University of Washington Libraries will be entering into negotiations with Elsevier for journal access in 2023 and beyond. We successfully negotiated our current contract with Elsevier in 2019 addressing most of our negotiating priorities including sustainable pricing without loss of access to any journals.

Once again we are pleased to announce that four members of the UW faculty will be joining the Libraries negotiating team.

  • Mary Hebert, School of Pharmacy
  • Theo Myhre, Law School
  • Brian Reed, Department of English and Divisional Dean of Humanities
  • Helene Williams, Information School and Chair of  the Faculty Council on University Libraries

The UW Libraries is represented by:

  • Denise Pan, Senior Associate Dean for Collections & Strategic Partnerships
  • Corey Murata, Director Collection Analysis & Strategy
  • Gordon Aamot, Director, Scholarly Communication & Publishing
  • Faye Christenberry, Collection Strategy and Licensing Librarian

Together we will partner to build and negotiate transformative models that create collaborative and sustainable long-term solutions. As stated in our Strategic Plan, UW Libraries works to advance research for the public good because we believe that “UW research attains its greatest impact on our most pressing global challenges when we advocate for open, public and emerging forms of scholarship.”
